Fiji
This archipelago in the Pacific Ocean consists of 333 islands
– only a third of them inhabited.
Beyond the beaches, the volcanic islands of Fiji also offer rich Polynesian culture, lush interior rainforests that are waiting to be explored, plus world class diving and snorkeling. The islands are perfect for a romantic getaway or a honeymoon but they’re also family friendly with adventures to suit all levels.
The main two islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu but with hundreds of islands to explore in an area no larger than Nevada, the best way to do it is by private yacht charter. SuRi offers every creature comfort on board to ensure you get around in style. Beyond the onboard pampering, SuRi is packed with every kind of toy to explore Fiji from the air, sea and on (or under) the water.
One of the best ways to take in Fiji’s lagoons and volcanic peaks is by air. SuRi is equipped with both a helicopter and a seaplane, and in a 20 minute flight, you’ll see more of Fiji than you can by any other means. Ask the pilot to fly over the heart-shaped Island of Tavarua. It’s a Fiji icon and a popular place for proposals.

Fiji has no shortage of deserted beaches but some of the best are to north, on the remote Yasawa Islands. This collection of 20 ancient islands, where Blue Lagoon was filmed, were closed off to visitors until the 1950s. One of the most beautiful spots on the island are the limestone Sawa-I-Lau Caves. Incredible and exotic with light filtering through holes in the ceiling; the caves are known as the resting place of the ten-headed ancient Fijian god, Ulutini.
Climb into the seaplane and look down to see the world-famous surfing spot known as “Cloudbreak,” which is considered one of the best and most challenging spots in the world. Waves break in a long continuous barrel here. Have the seaplane land here so you can enjoy drinks and a wood fired pizza at Cloud 9, a floating bar and restaurant next to Cloudbreak. You could also arrive on SuRi’s jet skis or classic mahogany Stan-craft if that’s more your style.
The beauty of cruising on the SuRi means plenty of time to island hop and find the perfect stretch of quiet beach to call your own for a day. But anchoring off a deserted island doesn’t mean roughing it for our guests. The crew can set up gourmet picnic for 12 that has been grilled to perfectio. Your group can spend the day lounging on the beach, swimming among the coves and lagoons or exploring at your own pace on one of our tenders.
Let’s say the yacht has anchored off Drawaqa Island and some people want to dive with manta rays here or explore the remains of a shipwreck. Or maybe you want to snorkel with sharks on Kuata Island but nobody else does. The boat is equipped with its own snorkel and scuba equipment, but the rest of the party can take their pick from surf boards, wake boards or even a rowboat. The kids may just want to stay on board and have fun on the 25 foot inflatable slide that can be attached to the side of the boat.
Although Fiji is a beach lover’s paradise, it is also an ideal spot for hiking. Kick back and relax on the SuRi’s sundeck as you cruise to Kadavu island in the south. Once the boat has anchored, take one of our amphibious craft such as the Sealegs rib to shore to explore the island’s volcanic summits, rainforests and waterfalls. Other people in your group may want to stay behind and explore the famous Great Astrolabe Reef which is teeming with sea life.
